Technology is changing the way many direct sales companies are doing business. Free e-vites are rapidly replacing post card invitations sent by costly snail mail.
Some reps are filming their parties and making them available on You Tube to people who cannot attend in person. Others are asking people to "Skype"-in to interact with the live party and its guests.
Some companies already have the technology to do virtual parties. Hostesses can invite their guests to enter their order, right online. It's great for charities and fundraisers, too, as all the orders can be aggregated and the hostess/school/institution will receive the hostess rewards based on that total.

How to join Discovery Toys

More Baby Shower Ideas
Someone you know is about to become a Grandma. Well, as we all know, this is practically as exciting to most women as becoming a mother. All her friends are so excited for her, constantly asking her when is the big day? Is it a boy or a girl? When will you get to go see him/her? etc. Since her most important job is to play with and spoil her grandchildren, why not help her get all the right toys, books and games to do just that. Get her friends together and let them throw her a Grandma Shower. Find a local DT rep (I can help you with that), tell her your idea, plan a special day for the event, and VOILA! -- lots of new toys are presented to Grandma for the new arrival. Now, Grandma can either keep all of these toys at her own home for baby's visits, or she can choose to share these with the baby at its own home. Either way, Grandma is introducing the baby, its mother, and ALL of her friends to DT products and our philosophy. What could be more fun?

Then invite people, and share the registry list and catalogs with all the long-distance "guests". Your consultant will take everyone's orders and will ask each guest to mail her a card for the new mom, to be included with each gift which she will gift wrap. All the gifts will be hand delivered to the new mom if the consultant lives close enough. When she writes her thank-yous, she can include a snapshot of her opening the gifts.

How to host a Discovery Toys catalog party
One of the facets of a Discovery Toys business is the party plan. People host parties to introduce the products to their friends (and to earn free toys!) A Discovery Toys consultant comes to the hostess' home and gives a short presentation, allows the guests to play with sample toys, and then takes their orders. The hostess earns free toys based on the total value of those purchases. (Some hostesses choose to give that portion to charity.)
If your friends and family are scattered all over the U.S. and can't come to your house when you host a party, you can host a "catalog party." We send you catalogs to circulate and order forms to write their orders and credit card info on. You mail or fax us the lists of what each person wants to order, and we take care of shipping the toys. Toys are sent by UPS either to you, the hostess, or to each "guest", if they don't live nearby. Your least expensive shipping option is when all toys are shipped to a single address. Added shipping costs apply if individual parcels are required.
You earn generous hostess rewards of nearly 18% of what is purchased. You may also select a toy at 1/2 price if someone books a party and your sales reach $200. Additional $200 increments entitle you to more 1/2 price toys. No limit!

Discovery Toys Give Back Hostess Program Aims to Donate $350,000 in Learning Products

When the 30-year-old direct-selling company heard that donations to Toys for Tots were down this year, and that the charity organization would be hard-pressed to deliver gifts to thousands of needy families on their rosters, Discovery Toys quickly mobilized to help fill this shortfall by leveraging the efforts of the thousands of individuals across the country who host Discovery Toys parties in their homes and workplaces.
Shoppers looking for quality educational toys, books, and games for the children in their lives can contribute to families in need by making a purchase at a Discovery Toys party. Explains Cindy Franco, Discovery Toys Vice President of Sales, “When someone hosts a Discovery Toys party, she earns free products based on the level of sales from that party. A party generating $550 in total sales, for example, earns the hostess $100 in free products. Discovery Toys will match this earned free product value and make an equal donation to Toys for Tots.” The matching donation program runs through December 12. The toy company hopes to contribute upwards of $350,000 in new toys to help bring some joy to families who find themselves in need during these difficult economic times. The program affords individuals the opportunity to assist these children without having to trade off dollars spent on holiday gifts. The more someone spends, the higher the contribution.
